I suppose this is one of those tunes you have heard, but never knew what it is called and who wrote it. "The Second Waltz" composed by Dmitri Shostakovich is a part of the Suite for Variety Orchestra, a suite in eight movements, and in its original version was the music to the film: The first Echelon (1955) The waltz is the seventh movement of the suite which was completed by Dmitri Shostakovich after 1956.
Part of the art of making music is the selection of sounds to add a littlle something extra. In this version at 2.03 we used a "fairgound" type sound to add to the waltz feel and at 2.23 we used a Cimbalom sound to add a touch of the East European.
